Ringer
Episode 18: That Woman's Never Been a Victim Her Entire Life
By: Carlos Uribe

Ringer is a show about a twin who takes the place of her twin's life.

Spoilers Ahoy!

At the end of last episode, Andrew stopped in front of a bullet and saved Bridget's life. He clearly doesn't die since he is saved by surgery. I highly doubt anyone actually thought that he would die since he's a main character. It quickly becomes a mystery of who is trying to kill Bridget. It turns out that the hitman who tried to kill her was a man working for Macawi. They are unaware that Bridget has a twin sister so they believe that Siobhan is actually Bridget. It's also possible they figured out that Bridget is only pretending to be her twin sister Siobhan but this does raise a good question. If nobody knew that Bridget had a twin sister, then how was pretending to be the twin sister a good idea to begin with? This plan would only work if people know that Bridget has a twin sister. It's a terrible plan since it has clearly failed. I understand that Bridget thought this was the only way out, but clearly she should have thought about her situation a bit more before becoming Siobhan. She's lucky that she is in New York City because that means it took a while for Macawi to find her based on geography.

The truth isn't found out until the end, but it doesn't answer some questions. Who was the first hitman who tried to kill her working for? It's possible that was also Macawi but that seems unlikely. What happened to his body? The person that Andrew and Bridget believe is behind everything is Olivia. Olivia has stopped answering her cell phones and she did promise to take care of Tyler. Tyler ended up dead shortly afterwards so it is suspicious. Malcolm has also gone missing and Andrew reveals that he only bribed Malcolm to stay quiet. It turns out that Macawi is behind Malcolm's disappearance. I believe that he kidnapped Malcolm because there's no real proof that he's dead. Tyler ended up being killed by someone else. I also don't think Olivia hired the first hitmen. It might actually be Siobhan who then is trying to frame Andrew for the deed. If it was her, she had to make the body disappear to ensure it couldn't be tied back to her. Olivia's final scene was her leaving the town since she thought that the company was going to be exposed.

Andrew getting shot made for some bad news for his daughter, Juliet. Juliet not only has to deal with the mortality of her father but they also want Juliet to move in with her mother. A mother that Juliet now sees as a total monster. She tries to protest but nobody refuses to budge. She really doesn't want to go with her mother, so she decides to run away. She successfully manages to do this but Bridget manages to easily track her down to the beach house. Bridget-as-Siobhan manages to coax the entire truth from Juliet about the fraud they committed. Bridget is clearly very angry but it's not exactly clear what she is going to do. This story-line got to be slightly interesting due to this. Will Bridget tell Andrew or keep it to herself?

Henry and Siobhan also have some important scenes together. Henry realizes that Siobhan still isn't being completely honest with him so he tries to kick her to the curb. He thinks that she really loves him when she goes to the hospital to tell Andrew the entire truth. He stops her in the nick of time and proceeds to patch things up with Siobhan. He also reveals that he's the one who killed Tyler after finding out that she was sleeping with him. He had the flash drive this entire time but he had given it to his father-in-law. Siobhan seems to accept this.

This episode was actually pretty good. The main plot actually had some headway and Agent Machado proved that he's not completely the worst cop on television. He actually did manage to find the hitmen who went after Bridget and kidnapped Malcolm! The Juliet sub-plot took an interesting twist that will hopefully lead somewhere good. The major problem of the episode is that Henry continues to act irrationally. He seemed to be fine with Andrew killing Bridget, but called the line when he thought Siobhan was trying to kill Bridget. That wasn't creating drama between the couple but just Henry being inconsistent.
