Episode 10: Loyalty
By: Carlos Uribe
Revenge is a show
about a girl who goes to the Hamptons to have revenge on everyone
there.
Spoilers Ahoy!
The Real Emily,
from now on to be called Amanda, is sticking around town permanently.
For some odd reason, Emily realizes that if Amanda refuses to leave
immediately, she can at least try her best to place her under her
control. Amanda is getting close to Jack. Jack seems to be happy,
thinking that he has found his old childhood crush. Little does he
know that the Real Amanda, or as I call her Emily, has been there
this whole time. This plot-line is developing really nicely,
especially since more and more people are discovering she's there.
First Daniel discovers her, but at the end of the episode Victoria
learns that someone claiming to be Amanda Clarke is back. The look of
fear on her face was simply great. While I'm not terribly interested
in Amanda's relationship with Jack, I am interested in how Amanda is
affecting the world around her.
Tyler on the other
hand is going more and more evil. When Emily uses the sex tape she
found on Nolan's computer to make it seem like Tyler blackmailed
Nolan into the business deal, Tyler almost gets fired. He retaliates
by blackmailing Daniel Grayson with the information he found out from
the speech. He proceeds to break up with Nolan and steal the sex
tape, while at the same time figuring out what really happened to
Lydia. In other words? He's becoming an even stronger opponent but
also a more dangerous one as he has run out of his psychotic
medicine. So far, Tyler is serving the role of villain really well.
He is lasting longer on this show than I anticipated, which makes me
wonder if he's here to stay or if Emily will ever be able to bring
him down.
Emily's
relationship with Daniel is also messing up her revenge plans, or at
least that's what her sensei thinks. She spends a large portion of
the episode, trying to convince her sensei that she's not letting her
emotions cloud her judgement. In reality she has fallen for Daniel,
and she seems to kind of know it. As the series progresses not only
will she have to deal with these emotions, but she's also going to
have to find a way to mesh her emotions and revenge scheme. After
all, she is trying to destroy Daniel's parents and is lying to him.
How exactly does this impact her revenge plan when she knows what
this is going to do Daniel? It's a question the series is taking it's
time to answer, but we all know their relationship is going to only
get stronger.
There is one part
of Emily's revenge plan that is going perfectly and that is she has
broken up Conrad and Victoria. They are now getting a divorce, and it
seems like the divorce is not going to be a nice one. Victoria looks
like she may be getting screwed, since her divorce lawyer appears to
be secretly working for Emily. Victoria's divorce isn't the only
family trouble she has, a Charlotte has decided to live with her
father. Victoria realizes that she is driving her family away, but
luckily her son remains loyal to her. At least for now. Truth be
told, as her world collapses, the more interesting this show gets.
The more I want to watch.
Sadly, this
episode ended way too quickly. Even sadder? This was the mid-season
finale which means that I have to wait all the way until January to
see the next episode. You can be sure that when the show does return,
I'll be there to catch every second of this. This episode may not
have felt like a mid-season finale, but it sure accomplished the same
goal: it made me want to come back in January and see how everything
works out.
