The Mindy Project
Episode 8: Two to One
Mini-Review
By: Carlos Uribe
The
Mindy Project is about an OB/GYN named Mindy.
Spoilers
Ahoy?
In
this episode, the series realizes it's been paying Stephen Tobolowsky
to potray the role of Marc Schulman to star in the show. After eight
episodes, he's only been in two of them. That means he pretty much
got paid to not appear in seven episodes. His character decides to
retire in this episode but he fittingly fails to make an appearance.
He retires by letter because Schulman is afraid he was going to cry
if he did it in person. Considering how his character was never
properly established by the show, this really isn't that big of a
surprise. The entire episode was then spent on Danny trying to run
the office without Mindy. He encourages her to spend her day off
while he tries to deal with a situation where patients are leaving
left and right to be with the holisitic center. Danny tries his best
to stop the bleed but it's Mindy who convinces the patients to stay
with their firm. As she notes, if there's any complications in the
birth then the midwives are mearly going to drop them off at their
practice anyways. It's a funny episode that worked well and it
managed to effectively get rid of Schulman. It would have been nice
if he was allowed to have one final appearance but I guess they
weren't pay for him to actually show up beyond a voice-over.
