Dawson's Creek
Episode 8: Boyfriend
Mini-Reviews
By: Carlos Uribe
Dawson's
Creek is a show about teenagers growing up. It ran from 1998-2003 and
was created by Kevin Williamson (creator of the Vampire Diaries and
the Secret Circle).
Spoilers
Ahoy!
This
episode largely dealt with the central love triangle. Dawson and Jen
are doing fine until her old boyfriend comes to visit. The
ex-boyfriend throws their relationship into chaos and there's a
threat that Jen might leave Dawson for him. This threat makes Jen
realize that she needs to be single for the first time in a while and
she ends things with both of them. This is a surprising development
but it's one that is opening up an opening for Joey. Joey has been
hiding her feelings from Dawson but it's getting harder for her.
There's even a kiss between them. She was drunk so Dawson didn't
attach any significance to the kiss. While this love triangle
dominated most of the episode, Gail and Mitch's marriage problems
were prevalent in the background. This episode was largely good but
it could have been better if merely the seeds of doubt had been
planted into Jen. Her break-up seemed a bit sudden but other than
that it was a good scene.
